If I Were...

If I were a month, I’d be August
If I were a day of the week, I’d be Friday
If I were a time of day, I’d be Dawn
If I were a planet, I’d be Earth
If I were a sea animal, I’d be sea turtle
If I were a direction, I’d be whatever direction points to home
If I were a piece of furniture, I’d be a comfy couch
If I were a liquid, I’d be rain
If I were a gemstone, I’d be a diamond
If I were a tree, I’d be a Willow
If I were a tool, I’d be an interchangeable parts power tool
If I were a flower, I’d be a tiger lily
If I were a kind of weather, I’d be the perfect beach day
If I were a musical instrument, I’d be an acoustic guitar
If I were a color, I’d be yellow-gold, like the glow of a sunset after a perfect day
If I were an emotion, I’d be love
If I were a fruit, I’d be a mango
If I were a sound, I’d be laughter
If I were an element, I’d be fire
If I were a car, I’d down size and be a motorcycle
If I were a food, I’d be homemade lasagna
If I were a place, I’d be where the mountains meet the ocean
If I were a material, I’d be jersey cotton
If I were a taste, I’d be surprisingly sweet, tart, and a little bit fizzy
If I were a scent, I’d be fresh lavendar
If I were an object, I’d be a journal
If I were a body part, I’d be the eyes
If I were a facial expression, I’d be a smile
If I were a song, I’d be a mix tape of songs that make you smile
If I were a pair of shoes, I’d be barefoot and free

Another one bites the dust...

Tech just couldn't pull it off on Saturday... Sad day. We came close though! We only lost by 4 points to the team that was ranked #1 a couple of weeks ago...now they're #17. Oh how the mighty have fallen, haha. I also did not take any pictures of the trip. Fail. Again. It was fun though. Not only did I get to spend the day with my sweetie, but I got to meet a bunch of his friends and they are a riot! My sides are still a little sore from all the laughing...

On the not so bright side I think I'm getting sick again. Boo. My ears are so stopped up that I can barely hear myself think and my throat is sore, so my voice is really raspy...really helps me make a good impression at my new job, haha. We also have a 70% chance of snow tomorrow...sick AND cold weather...looks like it's 2-for-1 week! Yaayy... :(

I really don't have that much to share today...or maybe I do but I can't think clearly enough to get any of it out...so I'm hopping on one of many bandwagons...this one happens to be "Getting to know YOU" courtesy of the fabulous Keely at MannLand5. Here goes:

1. How often do you wash/change your sheets? I wash my sheets about every one and a half to two weeks... I hope that's often enough...
2. When is your birthday? December 19th
3. Have you ever met a bloggy friend in real life? Nope, I've only been blogging for about 2 months now...so I'm still very new to all of it. I do follow one of my good friend's blog, Linda is a photographer and I like to see what kind of work she's been up to. Does she count?
4. Brad Pitt or George Clooney? Brad Pitt. I love him regardless of the whole Jenn Aniston fiasco.
5. If you could change one thing about your body what would it be?
Let's just say that I'm barely there in chest area, not that I would want to topple over or anything, just a little somethin' somethin' would be nice...
6. How often do you wash your hair?
Every other day, unless I'm working out every day, then it gets washed after every work out.
7. Do you have pets? I have an adorable little pup named Nala. She's a mess but I love her like I would a kiddo!
8. How many social networks do you belong to..if you had to give up one, what would it be? Hmm...2. Facebook and Blogger (does Blogger count?). I don't think I could give up either of them. I keep in touch with a lot of people through facebook and I just started blogging, I like it, I'm not ready to let it go yet. I did kick MySpace to the curb a couple of years ago, though, can I count that? :)

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Gooo Tech!

Whoa, what a week! I have just been a busy bee! The week just flew by...here's what happened: Monday was just a day of recovery from a busy weekend before; although we went and saw "Wolfman" - but it was a disappointment. Tuesday was blah, Wednesday was Dinner and a Movie Night and I made banana pancakes, we made a pallet on the floor out of comforters and pillows, and watched "The Little Mermaid" in our pj's - so much fun! Thursday I started my new job and I love it! Yesterday we saw "Shutter Island" and I really liked it. It's dark, twisted, ominous, and breaks your heart in some parts, Leo plays his role beautifully. If you like thrillers and movies you need to pay attention to, then go see it!

Today we head up to Lubbock (my old stompin' grounds!) for the Texas Tech versus UT basketball game. It should be a lot of fun...mostly because Spencer and I have a bet going (he's a UT alum)... If Tech wins, he has to sport some kind of Tech paraphernalia for one week, and vice versa for me if UT wins. Let the games begin! I'm also excited because I get to see some of my other Lubbock friends that I haven't seen in ages. Yay! Hopefully I'll remember to take some pictures this time! Well I'm tight on time, gotta run! Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!! :)

WRECK 'EM TECH!!

Valentine's Get-away

Let me begin by saying this may be a somewhat long post with lots of pictures...

What a weekend! It was one of the most magical and best weekends of my entire life. So my wonderful boyfriend Spencer had been telling me for about two weeks that we were going to go to Ruidoso for Valentine's weekend and I was super stoked for it. So Friday morning (finally) rolls around and I had woken up early to pack, double check my packing, and get his present ready...then it felt like I had to wait ages for 9:45am to get here. Oh but it did and I flew into the truck, ready to get away and get our weekend started...

So we start heading out of town and he looks over at me and says, "I may have told you some colorful stories this week... We're not driving, we're flying." Well that's no biggie, save some time right? Nothing to fret about. So we get to the luxurious Midland International Airport and he checks our bags and gets us checked in, and the counter clerk hands him our tickets and says, "Enjoy your weekend in Los Angeles!". Oh. My. Goodness. My jaw just dropped. I probably stood there gaping at him like a lunatic for a good 2 minutes before he grabbed my arm and led me up the stairs to our gate...

What a sneaky, sneaky guy! Boy, he had me fooled! For about two weeks nonetheless! I've never been farther west then the Grand Canyon (which was for a middle school field trip) and have always dreamed about going to California... Looks like I found a genie in my boyfriend... ;)

His brother happens to live in LA, so he picked us up from LAX and took us to the infamous In-N-Out Burger for an early dinner. And let me say, it is as good as everyone says it is! Delicious!! After our five star meal, we drove around LA a bit and took in the sights. We stayed in downtown LA at the Millenium Biltmore Hotel, really nice and historic. We were so bushed from a day of traveling and so much excitement that we crashed early and slept like rocks...

We woke up the next morning and he tells me, "You better get dressed, we're going to Disneyland." Ahh!! I nearly died of excitement. Yet another item on my wish list that got checked off this weekend. We had a blast riding the coasters and doing all the things that you just have to do at Disneyland. Lucky for us, we got there early enough to beat the crowds and actually finished up with Disneyland and Californialand by 2pm. It was such a beautiful day that we thought we'd head to the beach and soak in the rays... But LA traffic had other plans for us. It took us about and hour and a half to get back to the hotel, so we opted for naps instead of more traffic time. Room service, champagne, and an amazing dinner were the staples for the rest of our evening...

Sunday morning we did make it to Venice Beach! We walked out on to the Boardwalk and saw some dolphins and just strolled the beach and soaked in the rays for a couple hours. Oh how I've missed the sun and bikini wearing weather!

Then it was lunch with his brother at The Counter, a really cool joint with fabulous food, and then somefor dessert (Yumm-O!! I'm considering opening one in Midland, haha...) before hopping on the plane back to Midland. A perfect weekend with the perfect man :) Oh, and I got a homemade Valentine's card, too! Hope everyone had an equally fabulous weekend and a great week! I start my new job tomorrow - verrrryy nervous and excited!

I Spoke too Soon...

After having my first migraine on Monday, I also got a stomach virus. So for the past two days all I've done is laid in bed and been hopped up on meds. Awesome. But today it's gone! Hooray for rest, grape juice, and pharmacists that know what they're doing. To celebrate the return of my health I treated myself to a massage and I do believe it was the best I've ever had. My body was definitely holding a ton of tension from being sick and it was so nice to have it all released. I have a wonderful masseuse, she knows just how much pressure to apply and where my trouble spots are, I am very thankful for her. The rest of the day is probably going to be spent in "relaxed mode". Although what I really need to do is go work out, I figure that would make getting the massage earlier pretty pointless, so I will revel in my lackadaisical state and do as little as possible. I'll start being productive again on Monday. The rest of today will consist of movie watching and laundry. I got The Time Traveler's Wife and Couple's Retreat.

I've never seen The Time Traveler's Wife but it looks like a good movie and I do adore Rachel McAdams. I have seen Couple's Retreat (hilarious, by the way) but Spencer hasn't, so I'm saving that one for tonight seeing how it is Dinner & a Movie Night. Last week was Papa Murphy's Pizza... I have a feeling tonight it may be the same, unless he decides to cook (I'm enjoying my laziness, remember? ;) ) I guess that's about all for today, I hope everyone is staying warm and well! Gulp down that Vitamin C!!

Migraine Monday??

Today I have a migraine. I've never had one before and am actually not sure how I'm able to sit in front of the computer right now, or do anything for that matter, with the pain that is shooting through my brain. I've been in bed most of the day but felt like I needed to try to be productive, so I got up. Bad idea. Do migraines make you nauseous? Bleh. Going back to bed for a while...

So that was about 2 hours ago. My friend Lindsey came by and gave me some miracle drugs that made my migraine go away - yay! How 'bout them Saints?! I am so stoked they won the Super Bowl, they deserved it! As for the rest of the weekend, it was pretty much perfect :) I got to hang out with Spencer, Lindsey and Julius Friday night then Jennie came to town Saturday afternoon and it made my month to finally hang out with her! I've missed her so much! Then Sunday it was church, then to one of Spence's friends' apartment for the big game. All in all a good weekend :)

And I have a pretty super announcement! After 9 months of job searching, I was offered a part-time Administrative Assistant position today! Yay! It may not be full time but at least it's a start. I should begin Monday, as long as I get all my paperwork done this week. I'm very excited and thankful. If any of you have been in the same position as me, don't lose hope! God has a plan for all of us and good things will come in His timing. Another super great thing about this week... My boyfriend Spencer surprised me with a trip to Ruidoso this weekend for Valentine's! He is THE BEST! I've been talking about needing a mini-vacation and he took it upon himself to make it happen, so sweet :) We leave early Friday morning and I can't wait! So minus a migraine, this week is starting to look pretty stellar! Hope it's great for all of y'all too!

Wishful Wednesday...Spotlight

Wishful Wednesday

I wish... I could have stolen Pink's

spotlight last night at the Grammy's!

I wish I could've been Pink during her Grammy performance! What a thrill it would be to whirl through the air and soar above the crowd! Of course, I don't know how she was able to sing AND spin in tight little circles... I guarantee you that I would have lost my lunch! Alas, she is the talent, and therefore has the sweet skills to perform such a feat, and I am but a mere admirer. Props to her!!

Foggy Morning Sweetness

I'm so glad February is finally here! Although I do have to admit that January did seem to fly by and was pretty good all in all, February means we're that much closer to warm weather! Yay! Except that dang ol' groundhog saw his shadow this morning, so let's have a communal groan for six more weeks of winter: "Gggrrrrrrrr!" But what does he know, he's just a groundhog... I hope he's wrong...

So let's even out the bad news with a little bit of good... For the first time in five years I will have a Valentine. Whoa! I don't know what I'm going to do... I usually spend it in my pajama's with about five chick flicks, four comforters, three Dr. Pepper's, and chocolate and mini M&M covered popcorn in a bowl that's about the size of a small pool. And while I am a little sad that I will not be able to carry on with such a lovely tradition this year, I am ecstatic to be able to spend it with such a sweet and funny guy. A man, who in fact, made the time to leave me a sweet note on my car this morning (he has to be up by 5:45am for work! And he had to drive to my house to leave it there). He even put it in a Ziploc bag so it wouldn't get soggy from the fog. Definitely made my day :) And tomorrow is Dinner & a Movie Night...not sure what's going to be for dinner, he says he's cooking this time, but the movie for the evening is going to be Zombieland. I haven't seen it but have heard it's hilarious. My little brother went and saw it five times, haha.

Well that about wraps it up for today. Tomorrow three exciting things will take place: 1.) I get my hair cut!, 2.) Dinner & a Movie Night, and 3.) I have the day off, so it's filled with possibilities! Hope God is smiling down on all of y'all like he is on me! And remember to thank Him for it :) Have a great Tuesday all!!

Catchup, Cardigans, and Chicken

I was bad again. About posting I mean. I don't know when I suddenly became SO busy! Three weeks ago I had all the time in the world and now I'm struggling to find an extra minute in the day! Boo. Welp, time for my favorite game...again... Catch up!:

Last Wednesday I cooked dinner for my boyfriend and then we watched Dazed and Confused, love that movie! So it looks like Wednesday night dinner and a movie may become a permanent arrangement. Not that I'm going to complain, I love to cook, it relaxes me. I made Chipotle Shrimp and Cancun Chicken. Hahah, I like to make up random names for what I cook, makes me feel more chef-like. Nerd, I know. I couldn't be happier about the way things are going for us, it's the perfect speed. I'm comfortable just hanging out with him but I still get nervous when I see him. And it still takes us half the night to get the courage to reach out and hold hands, haha, I'm sure most of you are rolling your eyes but I forgot what it's like to be like this with someone. :) Then Thursday night we went to an Aaron Watson concert and stayed out entirely too late but had lots of fun. Friday was low key, Saturday was supposed to be low key until I was talked into going out with my friends, but it was fun and I got to see my friend Taylor and that made my night. Sunday was a little rough, mostly because it was my friend Ashley's baby's 2nd birthday and we were scrambling trying to get everything together for it. But it went off without a hitch, minus the weather, but unfortunately that's out of my control. Then that night Spencer took me to see When in Rome and it was cute. Even he liked it, haha. And that concludes our little game :)

Now this week I have a "To Do" list that's about a m i l e long, so I need to get my butt in gear and do some damage. I'm super excited for Wednesday because I get my hair cut and I think I found the cut I want! I can't find the picture online, but it's in last week's People magazine. It's Ashley Greene's collar bone length bob. I want to go one length, I'm done with layers...for now, haha. I did find a similar look: Heidi Klum's bob.

I'm going to a new stylist and I'm nervous about it. I love my hairstylist Whitney, but she's in Lubbock and I don't know when I'll be able to make another trip there so I went in search of one here in Midland. The girl I found is highly recommended and no one has said a negative thing about her, I'm sure she'll be great. Other than that, just a lot of hum-drum that needs to get done. My biggest task this week is cleaning out my closet. I'm getting rid of about 80% of my clothes and starting over. Yikes! It's both liberating and nerve racking. I need to not only update my wardrobe but make it a little more adult. Yay for growing up...kinda...Heh :) I've been doing a little bit of shopping this past week and have found some things I absolutely love (and they were on sale! Jennie would be so proud of me!). My current obsessions are:

Feminine cardigans - you can dress them up or down!

Jessica Simpson flats

And flowy, beaded tanks

I love the versatility of the pieces and they're just so dang cute! And speaking of Jennie, I get to see her beautiful face on Saturday! I can't wait! I've been missing my BFF all the days! Well, I better wrap this up so I can actually get some things done! I promise there will be at least two more posts this week, so don't give up on me yet! Until then, I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!!
